The pool deck was perfect.
Afternoon light spilled across the infinity edge like liquid gold, the Caribbean stretching endless and blue beyond the glass barrier. Palm trees swayed in the pre-storm breeze, their fronds catching the light in a way that would photograph like a dream. The Palomar Resort had spared no expense—Italian marble, hand-carved teak loungers, a bar that probably cost more than my apartment.
I adjusted my ring light, checked my angles, and smiled.
