Paradise Found

The villa clung to the cliffside like something out of a dream.

White-washed walls, blue-domed roof, and a private infinity pool that seemed to spill directly into the Aegean Sea. Ava stood on the terrace, watching the sunset paint the sky in shades of orange and pink, and couldn’t quite believe this was real.

“Mrs. Hayes,” Cooper’s voice came from behind her, warm with amusement. “You’re supposed to be unpacking.”

She turned to find him leaning against the doorframe, still in the linen shirt and shorts he’d worn on the plane. His hair was slightly windblown, his feet bare, and he was looking at her like she was the most beautiful thing in Greece.

“I got distracted by the view.”

“So did I.” But he wasn’t looking at the sunset.

Heat flooded through her—the same heat that had been building since they’d said “I do” three days ago. They’d spent their wedding night at a local hotel, exhausted and happy, falling asleep tangled together before they could do more than kiss.

Then there’d been the long flights—Boston to Athens, Athens to Santorini—with stolen kisses in airplane bathrooms and whispered promises of what would happen once they were alone.

Now they were finally here. Alone. With two weeks of nothing but each other.

“Come here,” Cooper said, extending his hand.

She went to him, fitting perfectly against his body like she always did. His arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her close.

“How are you feeling?” he asked quietly. “About all of this?”

“Overwhelmed. Happy. Still can’t believe we’re actually married.”

“Believe it.” He kissed her temple. “You’re my wife now. Stuck with me forever.”

“I can think of worse fates.” She tilted her head back to look at him. “Though I still can’t believe you booked us a villa in Santorini for two weeks. Cooper, this must have cost—”

“Worth every penny.” His voice was firm. “You deserve paradise, Ava. You deserve to be spoiled and pampered and treated like the incredible woman you are.”

“You’re going to make me cry, and I promised myself no crying on the honeymoon.”

“I make no such promises.” He grinned. “I plan to make you feel a lot of things over the next two weeks.”

The heat in his voice made her shiver. “Is that so?”

“Absolutely.” His hands slid down to her hips, pulling her flush against him. “Starting with dinner. I made reservations at that restaurant down in Oia. The one with the view of the caldera.”

“That sounds perfect.”

“Good. We leave in an hour.” He nuzzled her neck. “Which gives us just enough time to shower and change.”

“Separately?”

“Together.” His teeth grazed her pulse point. “To conserve water. Very environmentally conscious of us.”

She laughed, breathless. “You’re terrible.”

“You love it.”

“I really do.”

Dinner was magical.

They sat on a terrace overlooking the caldera, watching the last rays of sunlight fade as they shared fresh seafood, Greek salad, and local wine. The conversation flowed easily—about the wedding, their flight, their plans for the next two weeks.

“I want to explore Oia tomorrow,” Ava said, twirling pasta on her fork. “All those white buildings and blue domes. It’s like a postcard.”

“We can do whatever you want.” Cooper reached across the table for her hand. “This is your honeymoon too.”

“Our honeymoon.”

“Our honeymoon,” he agreed. “But I want you to have everything you dreamed about.”

“I already do.” She squeezed his hand. “I’m here. With you. That’s all I need.”

“Still. Make a list. Everything you want to see, do, experience. We’ll make it happen.”

They spent the rest of dinner planning—a boat tour around the island, wine tasting at a local vineyard, a cooking class to learn how to make traditional Greek food. By the time dessert arrived, they had a loose itinerary that balanced adventure with plenty of time to just be together.

“Ready to head back?” Cooper asked as they finished their baklava.

“To the villa?”

“To our villa.” His eyes darkened. “To our bed.”

Her breath caught. “Yes. Very ready.”

The drive back was quiet, charged with anticipation. Cooper’s hand rested on her thigh the entire time, his thumb tracing absent patterns that made her squirm.

By the time they pulled up to the villa, Ava’s heart was racing.

Cooper came around to open her door, offering his hand. She took it, and he pulled her close, kissing her deeply right there in the driveway.

“I’ve been wanting to do that all night,” he murmured against her lips.

“What stopped you?”

“Public decency. But we’re not in public anymore.” He swept her into his arms—actually lifted her off her feet—and carried her toward the villa. “Now you’re all mine.”

“You don’t have to carry me—”

“I absolutely do. This is our honeymoon. I’m going to carry you over every threshold we encounter.”

She laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck. “You’re ridiculous.”

“You married me anyway.”

“Best decision I ever made.”

He carried her through the front door, down the hallway, and straight to the bedroom. The space was beautiful—white linens, gauzy curtains fluttering in the breeze, French doors opening onto their private terrace with the infinity pool just beyond.

Cooper set her down gently beside the bed, his hands settling on her waist.

“Ava,” he said quietly. “We don’t have to rush this. We have two weeks. If you’re tired, if you want to wait—”

“I don’t want to wait.” She stepped closer, her hands sliding up his chest. “I want you. Now.”

His eyes darkened with desire. “Thank God.”

He kissed her then—deep and claiming and full of promise. His hands moved to the zipper of her sundress, sliding it down slowly.

“You’ve been driving me crazy in this dress all night,” he murmured against her lips. “Watching you move in it. Knowing that soon I’d get to take it off you.”

The dress pooled at her feet, leaving her in just her underwear—a matching set of ivory lace she’d bought specifically for tonight.

Cooper pulled back, his gaze traveling over her body with an intensity that made her skin flush.

“Beautiful,” he breathed. “So fucking beautiful.”

“Your turn.” Her hands went to his shirt buttons.

He helped her, shrugging out of the linen shirt and tossing it aside. Then his shorts followed, leaving him in just his boxer briefs.

They stood there for a moment, just looking at each other. Married. Together. Finally alone with nothing but time and desire between them.

“Come here,” Cooper said, his voice rough.

She went to him, and he lifted her onto the bed, following her down. The weight of him above her felt right. Perfect. Like coming home.

“I love you,” he said, brushing hair from her face. “My wife.”

“I love you too. My husband.”

He kissed her again, and this time there was no hesitation. No holding back. Just need and want and the overwhelming certainty that this—right here, right now—was exactly where they were meant to be.

Cooper’s hands moved over her body with reverence and hunger in equal measure. He took his time, exploring every curve, every soft place, whispering words of praise and desire against her skin.

“You’re so soft here,” he murmured, his lips trailing along her collarbone. “So perfect.”

His hands found the clasp of her bra, unhooking it with practiced ease. The lace fell away, and his mouth was immediately there, worshipping her with lips and tongue and gentle teeth.

Ava arched into him, her hands fisting in his hair. “Cooper—”

“I know, baby. I know.” His hand slid lower, tracing the edge of her underwear. “Tell me what you want.”

“You. All of you.”

“You have me.” He hooked his fingers in the lace, sliding it down her legs. “You’ve always had me.”

The cool air hit her heated skin, but she didn’t have time to feel self-conscious. Cooper was already touching her, his fingers finding the places that made her gasp and arch.

“So responsive,” he murmured, watching her face. “I love watching you like this. Love knowing I’m the one making you feel this good.”

“Please—” She wasn’t even sure what she was asking for. Just more. Everything.

“Shh. I’ve got you.” He kissed down her body, settling between her thighs. “Let me taste you. Let me show you how much I love every inch of you.”

And then his mouth was on her, and Ava stopped thinking entirely.

She let herself feel—the skilled movements of his tongue, the gentle pressure of his fingers, the building pleasure that made her toes curl and her back arch off the bed.

Cooper took his time, drawing it out, bringing her right to the edge and then backing off until she was trembling and desperate.

“Cooper, please—I need—”

“I know what you need.” He added pressure exactly where she needed it, and suddenly she was flying, pleasure crashing over her in waves that seemed endless.

When she finally came back to herself, Cooper was kissing back up her body, his expression satisfied and hungry in equal measure.

“Beautiful,” he said again. “Absolutely beautiful when you come.”

She pulled him up for a kiss, tasting herself on his lips. “I need you inside me. Now.”

“Bossy.” But he was already moving, shedding his boxer briefs and settling between her thighs. “I like it.”

He positioned himself at her entrance, and they both groaned as he pushed inside slowly, giving her time to adjust to the stretch.

“Okay?” he asked, his voice strained with the effort of holding still.

“More than okay. Perfect.” She wrapped her legs around his waist. “Move. Please move.”

He did, setting a rhythm that was both tender and passionate. Each thrust deliberate. Each movement designed to bring them closer together.

“My wife,” he said, his voice rough with emotion. “Mine.”

“Yours,” she agreed. “Always yours.”

They moved together, finding their rhythm, their bodies knowing exactly how to fit. And when Ava felt the pleasure building again, she held nothing back.

“Cooper—I’m—”

“I know. I feel it.” His hand slid between them, finding the bundle of nerves that made her cry out. “Let go, Ava. I’ve got you.”

She did, pleasure overwhelming her for the second time. And this time Cooper followed, burying his face in her neck as he found his own release.

They lay tangled together afterward, breathing hard, hearts racing in sync.

“That was—” Ava started.

“Perfect,” Cooper finished. “Absolutely perfect.”

He rolled to his side, pulling her with him so they were facing each other on the bed.

“Hi, wife,” he said with a grin.

“Hi, husband.” She traced his jaw. “I can’t believe we just—”

“Made love as husband and wife for the first time? Yeah. It was pretty incredible.”

“The first of many times over the next two weeks.”

His grin widened. “I like the way you think.”

They lay there in comfortable silence, just holding each other, listening to the sound of the waves below and the gentle breeze rustling the curtains.

“Ava?” Cooper said quietly.

“Yeah?”

“Thank you.”

“For what?”

“For being brave enough to marry me. For trusting me. For letting me love you.” He kissed her forehead. “For being exactly who you are.”

Tears pricked her eyes. “You make it easy. You make everything easy.”

“Good. Because I plan to spend the rest of our lives making you feel loved and desired and cherished.” His hand traced down her side. “Starting right now.”

“Again already?”

“We’re on our honeymoon. I have plans for you.” His eyes gleamed with mischief and heat. “Many, many plans.”

“Show me,” she challenged.

And he did.
