Kindle Black Friday Deals 2026: Quick Status
Last updated: October 23, 2026. Amazon has not announced its Black Friday Kindle pricing yet. Amazon’s early Black Friday deals usually start the week before Thanksgiving, and Kindle hardware tends to drop in the first wave. Everything below is based on last year’s pricing and will be replaced with live prices as they appear.
- Kindle Paperwhite: no deal yet. Last Black Friday it dropped to about $125 from $160.
- Kindle Colorsoft: no deal yet. Last holiday season it took its first real discount since launch.
- Kindle Scribe: no deal yet. Historically the biggest dollar discount of the lineup.
- Kindle (basic): no deal yet. Last Black Friday it dropped to about $85 from $110.
- Kindle Unlimited: no promo yet. Amazon has run a deep multi-month discount for new members around Black Friday every recent year.
Which Kindle Should a Romance Reader Buy?
Kindle Paperwhite: the one most romance readers want
Seven-inch screen, waterproof (bath and hot tub safe), warm front light that goes amber for reading in bed, weeks of battery and a page turn fast enough for a 2 a.m. binge. The Signature Edition adds wireless charging, an auto-adjusting light and more storage; if you read a lot of audiobooks through the Kindle app, the storage matters, otherwise the standard Paperwhite is the smart buy. This is the model that goes on the deepest percentage discount and sells out first.

Kindle Colorsoft: for the covers
Same size as the Paperwhite, with a color e-ink screen. Romance covers look like romance covers, highlights come in colors (yes, you can color-code your spicy scenes), and it’s still readable in full sun. Color e-ink is softer and a little darker than the black-and-white Paperwhite, and the premium is real, so this is the Black Friday buy: wait for the discount, don’t pay full price.

Kindle Scribe: for annotators
The big one, with a pen. If you annotate romance, keep a reading journal, or want to write in the margins of your Kindle books the way you do in a special edition, the Scribe is the only Kindle that does it. It’s not waterproof and it’s not a one-handed bath reader. It is the model Amazon discounts by the largest dollar amount every Black Friday. Our Kindle Scribe for romance readers guide covers it against the Paperwhite and Colorsoft in detail.

Kindle (basic): the gift Kindle
Six-inch screen, front light, pocketable, not waterproof. The cheapest way into Kindle Unlimited and the right pick for a teen, a parent or a second Kindle for the gym bag. At its Black Friday price it’s hard to argue with.

Kindle Unlimited Black Friday Deal
Every recent Black Friday, Amazon has offered new Kindle Unlimited members several months at a steep discount, and the promo usually runs from the week before Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday. If you’re buying a Kindle in the sale, the KU promo is where the real savings are: most of the spicy romance that dominates BookTok is KU-exclusive, including a large part of our catalog. Our list of the spiciest books on Kindle Unlimited is the shelf to load first.

When Do Kindle Black Friday Deals Start?
Amazon’s Black Friday sale now runs for most of the second half of November, and Kindle devices have been in the opening wave in each of the last three years, with prices holding through Cyber Monday (November 30, 2026). Stock is the issue, not timing: the Paperwhite in the popular colors tends to slip to a later ship date by the weekend. If the Paperwhite hits its expected price before Thanksgiving, buy it then.
Kindle Accessories Worth Adding to the Cart
- A case with a hand strap: the single biggest upgrade for reading in bed on your side.
- A page-turner remote: for the reader whose Kindle lives on a stand.
- A Kindle pillow stand: hands-free bath and bed reading.
