The Housewarming
A Straight to the Penthouse Bonus Scene
Set three weeks after the epilogue. Avery has moved in.
The mirror was Avery’s idea.
Not a wall of mirrors — they’d both agreed, without discussing it, that a wall of mirrors belonged to a different chapter of their lives. But a single standing mirror, full-length, antique-framed in carved walnut that Avery had found at a flea market in Red Hook.
“It’s for getting dressed,” she’d said, when Genevieve raised an eyebrow.
“Your neutral face has never once been neutral in the entire time I’ve known you.”
The mirror had been there for three days. They had not yet used it for getting dressed.
Tonight was the housewarming. Not a party. A private housewarming. Candles, jazz, garlic, rosemary. And Avery, standing in front of the mirror, wearing the gold key necklace and nothing else.
“Welcome home,” Avery said to the mirror.
“I want to try something. A housewarming ritual. The kind where I’m in charge for the first half and you’re in charge for the second half and we see who breaks first.”
This is Part 1. Part 2 continues with the full uncut housewarming scene — significantly more explicit.
