Description
About the book
He called him a wasted talent. Then he called him something else entirely.
Nico Cruz has everything a professional wrestler needs to become a superstar: beauty, charisma, athleticism, and the ability to make an arena react before he even touches the ropes. What he does not have is the respect of retired champion Grant Mercer.
Grant spent twenty years as one of wrestling’s most feared performers. Now openly gay and determined not to become another bitter legend clinging to the spotlight, he agrees to return as a performance coach when the company asks him to turn Nico from viral attraction into credible main-event talent.
Nico remembers every interview in which Grant criticized him. Grant remembers every match in which Nico almost proved him wrong.
Their first private training session becomes a fight. Their second becomes something far more dangerous.
As they build a scripted rivalry for television, a private arrangement develops around control, trust, and the professional praise Nico has spent his career pretending he does not need.
When executives discover their relationship can be turned into a scandal, Grant has to decide whether protecting Nico’s career means walking away—or finally standing beside him where everyone can see.
