God of Fury Reading Order: Can You Read It as a Standalone?

You can read God of Fury on its own. Rina Kent says so on the book’s official page, while recommending God of Malice for readers who want more background. God of Fury is the fifth Legacy of Gods book. Which route is best depends on whether you want Brandon and Nikolai’s romance now or the wider cast in sequence.

This guide answers the reading-order question without retelling the ending. Source information was checked September 20, 2026. The recommendation to start directly with book five comes from the author’s own book description, rather than an assumption that every numbered romance is independent.

Two sensible ways to start

Your prioritySuggested routeThe trade-off
Brandon and Nikolai’s MM romanceBegin with God of FuryYou will meet an established world without every earlier introduction.
The wider Legacy of Gods castBegin with God of Malice and follow the sequence belowYou are choosing a broader reading commitment, not just one couple.

Neither route is a reading test. If a particular relationship is what brought you here, you do not need to buy a shelf of books before trying its sample. If familiar side characters and connected history are part of the pleasure, reading from the beginning gives you that context as you go.

Legacy of Gods reading order

The six-book sequence below follows Rina Kent’s official reading-order page. It is the Legacy of Gods portion of her larger connected world, not a checklist of everything she has written.

Does “book five” mean four unfinished installments come first?

A number can identify a place in a shared world, not necessarily the fifth installment of one unresolved couple’s story. That distinction is why the author’s guidance matters. For God of Fury, the standalone entry is explicitly allowed. Do not automatically apply that rule to another duet, trilogy or series by the same author.

Our standalone versus interconnected romance guide explains how to recognize the difference before buying. It is especially useful when a retailer displays a series badge but the description says the book can be read independently.

Is this a whole series of MM romances?

Do not choose every Legacy of Gods title on that assumption. God of Fury is marketed by its author as dark MM romance, but shared-world membership does not guarantee the same relationship configuration in every book. Read the individual synopsis before selecting the next title. If MM is your priority, you can also use the author’s MM-books section linked from her site.

How to keep spoilers out of your first read

  • Use a title-only checklist until you choose your entry point. Character family trees can reveal connections you would rather discover in the story.
  • Read a book’s own description before browsing later-book reviews. Even a review that avoids its own ending can mention earlier outcomes.
  • Save bonus scenes for after the book they accompany unless the author clearly labels them as a prequel.
  • Check content notes separately from plot summaries. A spoiler-light reading order cannot describe every difficult theme.

What to read after God of Fury

If you want more of the same world, use the sequence above. If you want a new cast, start with our God of Fury readalikes. Decide which part you want to carry forward: the dark tone, the contrast between the leads, the emotional vulnerability, or the MM relationship itself. A useful recommendation should tell you what changes as well as what matches.

For our own publishing catalog, Jace Wilder’s author page and the MM romance guide offer another route. Choose a premise first, read its content notes, then use the available retailer or direct-store options. These are Fractal Enigma books, not additional entries in Rina Kent’s universe.

Before buying or borrowing

The same title can appear as a paperback, ebook or audiobook, with different availability. Check which format you selected and whether a subscription badge applies to that edition in your region. A Kindle listing does not by itself mean inclusion in Kindle Unlimited. The links in our checklist are edition searches, so confirm the author’s name before purchasing.

Quick answers

Can I read God of Fury first?

Yes. The author explicitly allows it as an independent read; starting earlier is an option for additional world context.

What book comes immediately after it in Legacy of Gods?

God of War occupies the next place in the official sequence. That ordering does not mean it is simply a second volume of Brandon and Nikolai’s romance.

Do I need the entire Rinaverse first?

No. Use the author’s specific entry-point guidance instead of treating the full bibliography as required preparation.
