Hate burns hot. But what comes after? That’s an inferno.
Eli Thorne is hockey royalty—the star center of the Boston Sentinels, son of billionaire team investor Colton Thorne, and the most disciplined player in the league. Every shift is calculated. Every emotion is controlled. Every part of his life is a performance designed to meet his father’s impossible standards. On the ice, he’s untouchable. Off the ice, he’s frozen solid.
Jax O’Connor is everything Eli isn’t—a working-class enforcer with bloody knuckles, a foul mouth, and a chip on his shoulder the size of South Boston. He fights because that’s all anyone’s ever expected of him. He protects his teammates because his deadbeat father never protected him. And he hates Eli Thorne with a passion that borders on obsession.
When Coach forces them to room together on the road, the hate boils over into something neither of them expected. What starts as stress relief—angry, desperate, no-strings-attached—becomes something far more dangerous when the walls start coming down.
But Eli’s father has plans for his son’s future, and those plans don’t include a working-class enforcer. When a leaked photo threatens to expose everything, Eli makes the kind of noble sacrifice that breaks hearts—including his own.
Now Jax has to decide: walk away from the man who shattered him, or fight for a love that was never supposed to happen in the first place.

Chapter One: The Hit
The ice was the only place the noise stopped.
Eli Thorne carved through the turn, blades biting into the fresh sheet with surgical precision. Practice had been running for forty minutes, and he’d spent every second of it in his head—calculating angles, reading defensive formations, tracking the puck like his life depended on it. Because in a way, it did.
Three points behind for the wildcard. Twelve games left. No margin for error.
His father’s words from last night’s phone call echoed beneath the scrape of skates and the bark of Coach Reeves’ whistle. You’re playing like you’ve already made the playoffs, Elias. That kind of complacency is how legacies die.
Eli hadn’t pointed out that he was leading the team in points. That he’d played through a separated shoulder in November and never missed a shift. That complacency wasn’t a word that existed in his vocabulary.
He never pointed anything out to his father. There was no winning that particular game, and Eli had stopped trying somewhere around age twelve, when he’d scored a hat trick in his peewee championship and Colton Thorne’s only comment had been about the goal he’d missed.
The whistle blew. “Thorne! O’Connor! You’re up for the drill.”
And just like that, the fragile peace of the ice shattered.
Because Jax O’Connor was already skating toward him with that infuriating grin—the one that said I know exactly how to get under your skin, and I’m going to enjoy every second of it.
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of enemies to lovers is this?
Real enemies. Eli and Jax genuinely hate each other at first—different backgrounds, different values, a fight that draws blood. The hate-to-love arc is slow, messy, and earned. No instalove here.
What’s the class difference angle?
Eli is a billionaire’s son who grew up with private tutors and trust funds. Jax is a South Boston kid who learned to fight before he learned to read. Their worlds collide on the ice, and neither knows how to exist in the other’s orbit—until they do.
How steamy is it?
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 (5/5 flames). This book contains explicit content including hate sex, jealousy-fueled claiming, possessive dynamics, slow lovemaking, praise kink, and a grand gesture kiss at center ice that will ruin you for all other book kisses.
Is there a happy ending?
Always. Stanley Cup win, public kiss on national television, promise rings, a Vermont wedding, and a forever HEA. These boys earn every second of their happiness.
Is there a breakup?
Yes—a noble sacrifice breakup that will rip your heart out. But the reunion? Worth every tear. Promise.
Do I need to read anything before this?
Nope! Get Pucked is a complete standalone in the Boston Sentinels series. No cliffhangers, no prior reading required.
