About the book

A fifty-two-year-old homicide detective. A silver-haired pathologist. Twenty-one years of silence. One cold case that changes everything.

Detective Lena Morales has spent twenty-one years trying to forget two women. One disappeared. The other left.

When construction workers uncover the remains of missing student Becca Nolan beneath an abandoned textile mill, Lena is forced back into the case that nearly destroyed her career. The investigation is already personal. Then the new chief medical examiner arrives.

Dr. Vivian Hart is silver-haired, brilliant, and still capable of making Lena’s carefully controlled life feel dangerously unfinished. She is also the forensic pathologist who broke Lena’s heart the night they buried the truth of what happened between them.

Reopening the case means working together through old evidence, corruption, danger, and twenty-one years of questions neither woman successfully left behind.

Lena is nearing retirement. Vivian has her own history with the case. Solving Becca’s murder could finally give them answers—but it also means confronting the relationship that neither managed to forget.
