Office Hours: After Dark

A bonus scene set three months after the epilogue. Harper and Elise return to the office where it all started — and this time, nobody stops.

The email arrived at 4:47 PM on a Thursday.

From: Harper Quinn
To: Dr. Elise Rowan
Subject: Office Hours Request

Dr. Rowan — I’m struggling with a passage in my current reading and could use some guidance. Are you available this evening for a private consultation? I’m a very dedicated student and willing to do whatever it takes to improve my performance. — HQ

Elise read the email in her office at Whitfield Hall and felt her pulse spike in a way that had nothing to do with academic administration.

They’d talked about this. Over wine last weekend, Harper curled against her on the couch. “I miss your office,” she’d said. Not the polite version. The version that meant: I miss wanting you in a room where I wasn’t allowed to have you.

“I want to roleplay the version where you don’t stop.”

Elise typed her response with fingers that were not entirely steady: Ms. Quinn — I have availability this evening at 7. Come prepared. I expect rigorous engagement with the material.

She hit send. Then she locked her office door, opened the bottom drawer, and checked that the items she’d placed there that morning were still present: a silk scarf and a small bottle of lube she’d slipped into her briefcase with the academic composure of a woman packing a conference paper.

Harper knocked at 7:02. Two quick raps. She was wearing the outfit from their first official meeting — the dark jeans, the soft green sweater, her hair in a messy bun. She’d dressed for the scene the way a method actor dressed for a role.

“Dr. Rowan. Thank you for seeing me on short notice.”

“Sit down, Quinn.”

Harper sat. Crossed her legs. Pulled out Elise’s own book, The Architecture of Wanting, and opened it to a marked page. “There’s a passage I keep returning to. It keeps me up at night.”

“Keeps you up at night how?”

“In various ways. Some of them academic.” A beat. “Some of them not.”

She leaned forward to point — close enough that Elise could see the edge of a black lace bra that was absolutely not what a student wore to office hours. “You wrote: ‘The architecture of wanting is built from the spaces between — the silences, the almost-touches, the moments where two people pretend the air between them is not charged.’”

“What did you mean by ‘charged’?”

“I’d like you to explain it to me. Specifically. In detail. I learn better with… hands-on instruction.”

Elise removed her glasses. The tell. “Come around the desk, Ms. Quinn. I’d like to demonstrate.”

She placed her hand on Harper’s hip. “The charge builds over time. Every accidental touch. Every moment of eye contact held one second too long.”

“And what happens when the charge becomes unbearable?”

“Something breaks.”

“Show me.”

Elise pulled Harper down by the front of her sweater. The kiss was rough and deep and absolutely filthy — a year of suppressed wanting distilled into contact.

“We shouldn’t be doing this,” Elise murmured against Harper’s throat.

“Then why aren’t you stopping me?”

“Research.” She caught Harper’s wrists. “I’m going to evaluate your comprehension. Every correct answer earns a reward. You will address me as Professor. And if you want to stop, you say ‘thesis rejected.’ Understood?”

“Understood, Professor.”

“Get on the desk.”

Harper climbed onto the oak surface. Manuscripts crumpled. A pen clattered. She sat with her legs open and Elise stepped between her thighs.

“Question one. What is the central argument of Chapter Three?”

“That desire operates as a form of — oh —” Elise’s hand cupped her through her jeans, firm and deliberate. “— epistemology. Wanting is a form of understanding —”

“Correct.” Elise unbuttoned Harper’s jeans. Slid her hand inside, over the soaked black lace. “Your reward.”

She slipped her fingers beneath the fabric. Harper was drenched, swollen, so sensitive that the first stroke of skin on skin drew a moan that echoed off the bookshelves.

“Question two. Ahmed’s willfulness framework — what is its primary limitation?”

Harper tried to answer while Elise’s fingers circled her clit in slow, precise strokes. Every time she lost the thread, Elise pressed harder. Every time she found it, Elise rewarded her. The academic language dissolved into gasps and fragments and the wet, obscene sounds of Elise’s hand working between her legs.

“Turn around. Hands on the desk.”

Harper turned. Palms flat on the oak. Elise pulled her underwear down and slid two fingers inside her from behind, slow and deep, curling on each stroke while her thumb found Harper’s clit.

“Question three. Make the counterargument against your own conclusion.”

Harper tried. God, she tried — arguing about institutional integrity while Elise fucked her over her own desk, each thrust punctuated by a gasp she couldn’t suppress.

“Professor, I’m going to —”

“You don’t come until I tell you to come.” Elise’s voice, steady and authoritative, completely at odds with the filthy wet sounds her fingers were making. “Finish the argument.”

“I can’t — it’s too —”

“You can. You’re my best student. Finish it.”

“— please, Professor, please let me come —”

“Rejected.” Elise pulled her fingers out. Harper made a sound of genuine anguish. “But the delivery showed promise. I’ll allow a retake.”

She spun Harper around, lifted her onto the desk, dropped to her knees, and put her mouth on her.

Elise licked her with long, flat strokes, then zeroed in on her clit with the precise, relentless focus of a woman who knew this body by heart. She slid two fingers inside while her tongue worked, and the combination — mouth and hands, the dual stimulation she’d perfected over twelve months — built the orgasm like a wave gathering offshore.

“Come for me. You’ve earned it.”

“Good girl?”

“The best.”

Harper came so hard the desk moved. Her body seized, back arching off the oak, thighs clamping around Elise’s head. The orgasm tore through her in violent, shuddering waves, Professor dissolving into Elise dissolving into sounds that had no linguistic content, just raw sensation given voice.

Elise gentled but didn’t stop — extending the orgasm until Harper was boneless and gasping and pushing weakly at Elise’s head because the sensitivity had crossed from pleasure into something too intense to bear.

“Satisfactory comprehension,” Elise said. Her chin was wet. She wiped it with the back of her hand. “But the evaluation isn’t complete.”

Harper raised her head. “There’s more?”

“The syllabus is extensive, Ms. Quinn.”

The evaluation continues in Part 2. Harper takes control.
