The Move-In Audit — Part 2

Continues from Part 1. Everything that happened next.

We made it to the kitchen upright, which I considered a personal achievement given that my legs were still registering complaints from the hallway.

The kitchen was Aster’s domain. Immaculate counters, alphabetized spice rack, the stand mixer positioned at an angle that I suspected corresponded to some ergonomic standard I’d never heard of. This room smelled like her—cedar and clean surfaces and the particular warmth of a space maintained with devotion.

“Room three,” Aster said, her voice stripped of most of its professional register. She was flushed from the hallway—chest pink, lips swollen, hair loose around her shoulders. “Primary common area. Surface temperature and utility assessment.”

She lifted me onto the island countertop—her hands on my hips, the easy strength of a cyclist—and the granite was shockingly cold against my bare skin. Ass, thighs, the backs of my hands as I braced myself. I sucked in a breath.

“Too cold?”

“Perfect. The contrast is—” I didn’t finish because she stepped between my legs and put her mouth on my breast, and the combination of cold stone beneath me and hot mouth above me sent a shiver through my body that started at my nipples and ended between my thighs.

She sucked. Hard, then soft, then hard again—alternating, unpredictable, one hand rolling my other nipple between thumb and forefinger with calibrated pressure. I arched into her mouth, hands gripping the counter behind me.

Then she reached for the drawer beside the stove.

“You did not,” I said.

She pulled out a slim matte-black vibrator in a clear hygienic case, labeled—I could see it—PERSONAL: KITCHEN.

“You put a vibrator in the kitchen drawer.”

“I redistributed the household assets for optimal accessibility.” She unzipped the case with practical efficiency. “Every room now has a designated personal-use device stored in a hygienic container—”

“You put sex toys in every room of the apartment.”

“—labeled, cataloged, and positioned for ergonomic access without disrupting the primary function of the space.”

“You labeled them. You labeled the sex toys. By room.”

“I’m a thorough professional, Fia. If we’re going to live together, the infrastructure should support our full range of activities. This is what operational readiness looks like.”

“I am so turned on and so horrified simultaneously.”

She turned it on. Low setting—a quiet hum that was somehow more obscene in the kitchen than the bedroom. She pressed it against my clit with the same focused attention she gave to rising dough temperatures.

The vibration was direct and insistent. Her free hand held my hip steady on the cold stone. She watched my face—cataloging responses, adjusting variables—and when my expression changed, when my mouth fell open and my eyes half-closed, she increased the setting.

“Report your findings,” she said.

“My findings are that you—oh fuck—you reorganized the apartment into a sex-optimized floor plan and I’m going to come on our kitchen counter.”

“Acoustic data?”

“The acoustic data is that our neighbors are going to file a noise complaint and we’re going to have to explain that the sounds were generated during a structural assessment of shared—Aster, right there, don’t move—”

She held the vibrator in exactly the position I’d specified—against the left side of my clit, the angle she’d discovered weeks ago—and she lowered her mouth to my breast again and sucked my nipple while the vibration built and built.

“I want to hear you,” she said against my skin. “This room has hard surfaces. I want to know what you sound like when the walls don’t absorb anything.”

I came on the kitchen counter with the vibrator against my clit and her mouth on my breast and my hands gripping the granite and a sound that bounced off the tiles and cabinets and window from every direction. She was right. The acoustics were completely different. Every sound returned amplified, undistorted, raw.

She turned off the vibrator. Kissed my mouth while I panted against her lips.

“Counter assessment complete,” she said. “Surface temperature equalizes within four minutes. Recommended for encounters under ten minutes or with supplemental padding.”

“You are taking notes.”

“Mental notes. I’ll formalize them later.”

“You are not creating a spreadsheet of which surfaces we fucked on.”

“The spreadsheet already exists. I started it when I signed the lease transfer.”

I grabbed her face. Kissed her hard. “My turn,” I said against her mouth.

“The audit schedule designates me as—”

“The audit schedule is suspended. You’ve made me come three times and you haven’t come once, and if you think I’m going to let you walk me through every room without returning the favor, you have fundamentally misunderstood the terms of our cohabitation.”

I slid off the counter. Turned her around. Pressed her back against the counter edge. She was still naked—had been since the bedroom—and the sight of Aster Bly leaning against the kitchen island with her hair loose and her skin flushed and her nipples hard and her thighs pressed together made something possessive and urgent surge through me.

I dropped to my knees on the kitchen tile.

“Fia—”

“Spread your legs.”

She spread her legs. The compliance—immediate, without negotiation, without the managerial resistance she applied to every other area of her life—sent a pulse of heat through me that was almost as intense as the orgasm she’d just given me.

I pressed my mouth to the inside of her thigh. Kissed the soft skin—warm, trembling, the micro-vibrations of a woman who was very aroused and trying not to show how much. I kissed higher. I could smell her—salt, warmth, something clean underneath.

She was wet. Visibly, obviously wet—the evidence of an hour of making me come without touching herself. I ran my tongue along her inner thigh, collecting the wetness that had spread there, and she made a sound—low, caught, composure reaching its structural limit.

I looked up at her. She was gripping the counter edge, knuckles white, her face a study in controlled desperation.

“Ask me,” I said.

“Fia—”

“You made me ask. Three times. You made me say what I wanted in complete sentences with proper grammar and specified coordinates. It’s your turn.”

Her jaw worked. The struggle between the woman who directed and the woman who needed—the fault line I’d spent a year learning to find and press.

“Please put your mouth on me,” she said, and her voice broke on the word please.

I put my mouth on her.

She tasted like want—concentrated, overdue, the flavor of a woman who’d been ignoring her own arousal for an hour while systematically taking me apart. I licked her slowly at first—broad, flat strokes, learning the current state of her. She was swollen. Sensitive. When my tongue circled her clit she flinched—not away, into—and the moan she produced echoed off the kitchen tiles.

I worked her with my mouth. The rhythm she liked—I knew it now, had learned it through repetition and attention. When I slid two fingers inside her she gasped and her hand left the counter and grabbed my hair and pulled, hard enough to sting, and I loved the evidence that Aster Bly’s composure was a structure I could demolish with my tongue.

I curled my fingers. Found the spot. Pressed and stroked while my mouth worked her clit, and I felt the orgasm building—the progressive tightening around my fingers, the trembling in her thighs, her breathing degrading from controlled to ragged to just sounds, just vowels, just my name broken into syllables that didn’t connect.

“Fia—I’m—don’t stop—”

I added a third finger. She cried out—surprise, fullness, the stretch of it—and I fucked her slowly with three fingers while my tongue maintained rhythm and her hand pulled my hair and the sounds she made were extraordinary. The kitchen amplified everything—every gasp, every moan, every time she said my name like it was the only word she could access.

She came with her back arched against the counter and a shout that hit the tiles and the cabinets and came back multiplied. I felt her clench around my fingers—tight, rhythmic—and I stayed with her, worked her through it, eased the pressure as her body shook and settled and shook again.

I stood. Kissed her. She tasted herself on my mouth and made a sound that was half groan and half laughter—a woman taken apart in her own kitchen by someone who knew exactly how to dismantle her.

“Room four,” I said. “Living room. My selection.”

We walked to the living room—stumbling, holding each other, laughing the way we laughed when the sex was ridiculous and sincere simultaneously.

The couch. Our couch. The one where we’d conducted the relationship audit. Where we’d sat apart and named the patterns that had almost destroyed us. Where we’d held hands and not had sex and agreed that honesty was more intimate than orgasms.

I pushed her onto it. She sat. I straddled her lap—the position we’d discovered during the reconciliation, face to face, her hands on my hips, my hands in her hair, every reaction visible at a distance of three inches.

“This couch,” I said, settling over her thighs, “is where you told me you needed me to fail. And where I told you I used your competence as a net. And where we said I love you without any orgasm to hide behind.”

“I remember.”

“I want to make a new memory on it.”

I reached behind the couch cushion. She watched me retrieve the vibrator I’d hidden there an hour ago—a different model, the one she preferred, the setting that made her hips come off whatever surface she happened to be on.

“You pre-staged the couch,” she said.

“I learned from the best. I labeled it PERSONAL and filed it behind the throw pillows.”

“You filed it.”

“I’m becoming a very organized cohabitant.”

I turned it on. Low setting. Pressed it between us—against her clit, then against mine, the vibration shared between our bodies as I shifted in her lap. The intimacy of it—the toy pressed between us, both feeling the hum, the friction of our bodies creating something neither could have produced alone—was different from every other way we’d used it. Shared. Simultaneous. A collaboration.

Her hands went to my hips. Pulled me closer, pressing the toy more firmly between us, and the increased vibration against my still-sensitive clit made me gasp. She captured the gasp with her mouth—kissing deep—and we moved together. Rocking. Grinding against each other with the toy between us, finding a rhythm that worked for both bodies through nonverbal communication built over a year of learning each other’s responses.

“Look at me,” she whispered.

I looked at her. Gray eyes, open, hiding nothing. Foreheads pressed together, breathing each other’s air. Her hands guiding the rhythm. My fingers digging into her shoulders, feeling the strength that held me upright and held us together.

She increased the setting. The sensation jumped—sharper, more insistent—and we both gasped, both stiffened, both grabbed each other harder. We were close. I could feel it in her body and mine—the convergence, two separate orgasms approaching from different directions toward the same destination.

“Together,” she breathed. “Can you—”

“Yes. Don’t stop. Don’t change anything.”

We held the rhythm. Steady, precise, the vibrator humming between our bodies while we moved together on the couch where we’d once sat apart and named our worst truths. The orgasm built in parallel—her breath quickening against my mouth, my thighs tightening around her hips, both climbing toward something that was not just physical but architectural, a structure we were building together from shared sensation and mutual trust.

She came first. I felt it—the sudden tension, the grip on my hips, the sharp exhale against my mouth. I followed three seconds later—her orgasm triggering mine, the vibrator amplifying both—and the sound we made was not two separate sounds but one. A single note produced by two instruments tuned to each other.

We stayed. Breathing. Holding. She reached down and turned off the vibrator and the silence was full and warm and completely ours.

“Assessment complete,” she said, after a long time.

“Findings?”

“Every surface in this apartment is suitable for the activities I imagined. The kitchen counter requires immediate sanitization. The hallway wall is load-bearing. The couch remains the most emotionally significant location in the unit.”

“Because of the audit?”

“Because it’s where you told me the truth. And because tonight you came on it and said my name like it was the only word you knew.”

I pressed my face into her neck. Breathed her in. Cedar and clean skin and sex and the particular scent of home—not a place, a person.

“Welcome home,” she said.

“I’ve been home for a while,” I said. “The lease is just catching up.”

She wrapped her arms around me. The harbor light came through the curtains she never fully closed. The Pinot waited on the kitchen counter, uncorked and patient. The drawer in the bedroom held the things we kept. And every surface in the apartment—tested, assessed, structurally confirmed—held the evidence of a love that had taken ten years to name and one evening to consecrate.

“Aster?”

“Mm?”

“The bathroom wasn’t on the audit schedule.”

“The bathroom has a rainfall showerhead, a bench, and nonslip tile. It’s on the Phase Two agenda.”

“Phase Two.”

“This was the initial assessment. Phase Two is the follow-up review with expanded methodology.”

“When is Phase Two?”

“Tomorrow morning. After the sourdough rises.”

“You scheduled sex around sourdough.”

“The sourdough requires a six-hour proof. The window between 6 a.m. and noon is optimal for both.”

I kissed her. On our couch, in our apartment, in the particular quiet of two women who had survived everything and come out the other side with their humor intact and a six-hour sourdough window stretching ahead of them like a promise.

“I love you,” I said. “It’s in the lease.”

“I love you too. It’s in every room.”
