I knew she was going to lose before she did.
Not because of anything technical — her footwork was clean, her topspin was biting, and her first serve had been landing at a hundred and fifteen miles per hour all afternoon. Blythe Kavanagh was, by every measurable metric, the better player on Court Philippe-Chatrier today. The scoreboard agreed with me.
