Quicksilver Spicy Chapters: Every Scene, Heat Level & Content Warnings (2026)
Quicksilver spicy chapters are easier to pin down than most romantasy readers expect: Callie Hart’s Fae & Alchemy opener runs at 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ explicit, open door, with three full on-page scenes and two make-out chapters that build to them, none of it in the first eleven chapters. It’s for readers who loved the hostility in A Court of Mist and Fury and wanted Saeris and Kingfisher to keep fighting right up to the bed. The timing is good for a reread, too. Brimstone, the sequel, hit the New York Times list in November 2025, Netflix bought the adaptation rights in December 2024 for a reported seven figures, and the untitled series finale has been pushed to September 2027. Below: the chapter list, how the heat compares to the other big romantasies, the content warnings, the reading order and a Fractal Enigma bonus scene for when you want the heat turned all the way up.

Is Quicksilver Spicy?
Yes. Quicksilver is open door and explicit, with three full sex scenes between Saeris Fane and Kingfisher plus two heavy make-out chapters, but it’s a slow burn by romantasy standards. Nothing full happens until chapter 22, and the plot (a dying fae realm, a war with a vampire king, an oath that accidentally binds a mortal thief to an immortal warrior) gets far more page time than the bedroom. If you read for spice alone, this is a four-chili book with a three-chili pace. If you want enemies-to-lovers with the knives still out, it’s exactly right.
Quicksilver Spicy Chapters List
Chapter numbers come from reader-compiled lists and chapter-by-chapter reviews. The three full scenes (22, 27 and 37) are the ones every list agrees on; the two warm-up chapters come from a single list, so they’re marked “around.” Descriptions are non-graphic and spoiler-light.
- Around Chapter 12: The first charged chapter. Nothing explicit, just Saeris and Kingfisher at close range in Yvelia and the hostility starting to read as something else. One chili.
- Around Chapter 20: The first kiss. Saeris gets close to Kingfisher to steal a ring off him, and the distraction turns into a heavy make-out session before it stops. Clothes stay on. One to two chilies.
- Chapter 22: The first full open-door scene, and the first chapter closed-door readers will want to skip. Explicit, long and rough around the edges in the way the whole relationship is. Four chilies.
- Chapter 27: The second full scene at the same heat. By now neither of them is pretending it was a one-time thing. Four chilies.
- Chapter 37: The last full scene, late in the book, with the most emotional weight behind it. Chapters 22, 27 and 37 all rate at the top of the scale on reader lists; if you only read one, read this one. Four chilies.
Count: three explicit scenes, two warm-ups, nothing before chapter 12. The Zilvaren opening is all heists, reservoirs and an execution, and the first stretch of Yvelia is Saeris learning she’s an Alchemist while Kingfisher lies to her about why that matters.
Reading Quicksilver Closed Door
If you want the story without the scenes, Quicksilver is one of the easier romantasies to read around. The heat is concentrated in three chapters, and closed-door reader guides flag only parts of chapters 22, 27 and 37, so you can skim the explicit passages without losing plot. Watch for the shift when a scene starts and pick up again at the next scene break; the political fallout and the oath business carry on around it. Chapters 12 and 20 are safe for almost everyone: tension, a kiss and a lot of insults.
Who Quicksilver’s Heat Is For
Readers who want the build to matter. Saeris and Kingfisher spend the first half of the book lying to each other, trading threats and being forced into the same space by an oath neither of them chose, so by the time the door opens the scenes read as a release rather than a reward. It’s a strong fit if you liked Feyre and Rhysand’s slow turn or Violet and Xaden’s training-mat tension, and a weaker one if you want spice in the first fifty pages or a book where the romance is the whole plot. Fated mates readers get their payoff here too, though the bond itself is a slow reveal and Brimstone does more with it.
Content Warnings
- Graphic violence, war, blood and gore, including murder and a decapitation
- Death of a parent (recounted) and suicidal thoughts
- Infertility and forced sterilization (recounted, not shown)
- Serious physical injury, captivity and the threat of execution
- Vomiting
- Explicit consensual sex between adults; Saeris is twenty-four, Kingfisher is centuries older
Brimstone adds an attempted forced sterilization of girls, vampire feeding, a possession storyline and a character’s death. Neither book has dubious consent in the romance.
How Spicy Is Quicksilver Compared To…
- A Court of Thorns and Roses 🌶️🌶️🌶️ and A Court of Mist and Fury 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️: Hotter than the first Maas book and about level with the second, with the same three-scene structure. Chapter 22 is Quicksilver’s Chapter 55. Our ACOTAR spicy chapters guide has the Maas breakdown.
- Fourth Wing 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️: Nearly identical. Fourth Wing has three spicy chapters (22, 30 and 32); Quicksilver has three (22, 27 and 37). Yarros’s scenes land a little closer together; Hart’s are angrier.
- From Blood and Ash 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️: Armentrout runs a touch hotter, with four explicit chapters clustered in the back half and a lot of heated near-misses before them.
- Brimstone 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️: The sequel has four spicy chapters (7, 20, 29 and 37) and gets to the first one far earlier, so readers count more spice overall, though one reviewer felt the scenes arrived out of nowhere.
- Haunting Adeline 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️: A different sport. H.D. Carlton’s dark romance is erotica-level explicit and built on dubious consent; Quicksilver is a fantasy novel with three sex scenes in it.

Read the Series in Order
Fae & Alchemy is a trilogy. Start with Quicksilver, self-published in June 2024, picked up by Forever that December after a ten-bidder auction and straight to number one on the New York Times list, then Brimstone (November 18, 2025), which puts Saeris on a throne and makes going home potentially lethal. The third and final book has no title yet. Callie Hart announced in May 2026 that it’s moving from a planned November 2026 release to September 2027 because the finale is “so much bigger than books one and two.” Netflix holds the adaptation rights, with a finished screenplay and a director search as of late 2025. While you wait, our books like Quicksilver list and the books like Brimstone list cover the rest of the dark romantasy shelf.

If You Wanted It Hotter: A Fractal Enigma Bonus Scene
Quicksilver’s three scenes are good, but they’re paced for a long fantasy. If what you wanted was the demon-blooded warrior and the woman who can’t stop fighting him, with the door open every time, Rowan Black wrote that book, and it comes with a bonus chapter too explicit for Amazon.
The Demon’s Tithe — Rowan Black
Kaelen Ashward is a monster hunter with demon blood poured into his open wounds as a “gift” he’s spent his life trying to return: silver scars tracing his veins, senses that burn, villagers who bar their doors when he rides in. Then he meets Seraphine. Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, a power exchange that runs both ways and a hero who falls first and hard. Free with Kindle Unlimited. The bonus scene, “The Third Feeding,” slots in between chapters 15 and 16, during Kaelen’s last nights at the castle, and it’s the scene the book didn’t have room for: longer, filthier and only on our site.

FAQ: Quicksilver Spicy Chapters
What chapter is the spicy scene in Quicksilver?
Chapter 22 is the first full scene. Chapters 27 and 37 are the other two, and chapters 12 and 20 carry the build-up, with the first kiss around chapter 20.
How many spicy scenes are in Quicksilver?
Three explicit scenes and two make-out chapters. Nothing happens before chapter 12, and the first full scene is chapter 22.
Is Quicksilver dark?
Dark romantasy, not dark romance. Expect war, gore, murder, a recounted forced sterilization and suicidal thoughts, but the sex is consensual and the romance is enemies-to-lovers rather than captor and captive.
Is Brimstone spicier than Quicksilver?
Slightly. Brimstone has four spicy chapters (7, 20, 29 and 37) and the first lands far earlier, so the whole book reads hotter even though the scenes sit at the same explicit level. The one thing it doesn’t do is go past four chilies; for that, see the bonus scene above.
