Wrong Wedding, Right Bride — Bonus Chapter
Exclusive Scene — Too Hot for Amazon
by Aurora North
🔥 Christening
This scene takes place after the epilogue. Evelyn and Mara come home from Jess’s wedding.
They made it home from Jess’s wedding at eleven-fifteen with champagne on their breath and confetti in their hair and the particular glow of two women who had spent an evening holding hands in public and liked the way it felt.
Mara unlocked the apartment door and held it open, and Evelyn walked through the way she had a hundred times — except this time she stopped in the middle of the living room, turned around, and looked at Mara in the doorway with an expression that made the air go thick.
“What?” Mara said.
“You were the most beautiful person at that wedding.”
“It was Jess’s wedding. You’re not supposed to look at anyone but the bride.”
“I looked at the bride. The bride was lovely. Then I looked at you, and I forgot the bride existed.” Evelyn kicked off her heels. “Come here.”
Mara closed the door. Locked it. Crossed the room with the unhurried certainty of a woman who knew exactly what was about to happen and wanted every second of the approach.
“I have a confession. I’ve been soaking wet since approximately the main course.”
“Since the main course?”
“The salmon. You rolled your sleeves up and I watched your forearms and I had a full-body reaction that I had to disguise as enthusiasm for the wine pairing.”
“Your forearms are a structural marvel and I’m not apologizing.”
