Two straight-identified renovation-show cohosts. One bed. Zero plausible deniability.
For six seasons, chaotic carpenter Keir Maddox and perfectionist designer Solon Price have sold viewers the fantasy that they bicker like husbands while transforming hopeless houses. Neither has examined why their staged chemistry feels more convincing than any relationship they have had off camera.
When collapsing ratings force the network to retool their show as a live-in renovation experiment, they must restore a crumbling Finger Lakes mansion while sharing its only habitable bedroom — and its only bed. A joking kiss meant to satisfy their producer detonates years of buried attraction, and suddenly two allegedly straight best friends are doing a lot more than sharing a mattress.
Their private “research agreement” has rules: no labels, no expectations, no falling in love. They break every single one.
But as their secret intimacy becomes impossible to edit out and a ruthless executive prepares to replace Keir with a more marketable cohost, Solon must choose between the polished future he was promised and the messy, infuriating, impossibly hot man who has quietly become his home.

Chapter One: Demo Day
The wall was lying to me.
I knew it the way I always know — something in the sound when I knocked, a hollowness that didn’t match the blueprint. Six seasons of ripping open houses had trained my ear better than any engineering course, and this wall was hiding something behind its cheerful coat of builder-beige paint.
“Maddox.” Solon’s voice came through my earpiece, clipped and precise, the way he sounded when he was about to say something I wouldn’t like. “That wall is not in the demo plan.”
“The demo plan didn’t know about this wall.”
“The demo plan was finalized. By me. Yesterday.”
I grinned at Camera Two. “Folks, if you’ve been watching Room for Improvement for any length of time, you know what happens when Price finalizes a plan.”
“Keir—”
I swung the sledgehammer.

Closing Costs — A scene TOO HOT for Amazon
Keir and Solon close on their fixer-upper. The drop ceiling comes down. The mattress goes on the floor. And the christening begins — no crew, no cameras, no volume control.
