Exclusive Bonus Chapter: The Renovation
This bonus chapter takes place after the events of Roommates with Benefits Clause. Contains spoilers and extremely explicit content.
The Renovation
The kitchen island was half-finished.
Dec had been working on it for three days. That was the plan. The plan did not account for the fact that Dec had been working shirtless all afternoon.
Kai was supposed to be supervising. His very best intentions had lasted approximately forty minutes. Because Dec in a tool belt, without a shirt, was a visual experience Kai’s nervous system was not equipped to handle.
By three-thirty, he was sitting on the breakfast nook counter openly staring with the shamelessness of a man who had a signed document on the living room wall confirming his right to stare.
“You’re not supervising,” Dec said.
“I’m performing a visual audit. Your structural integrity is looking very sound. Very… rigid.”
“Section seven of the revised clause. Benefits do not terminate. Ever, Declan.”
Dec crossed the kitchen in three strides. His hands found Kai’s waist under the flannel and he lifted him onto the island. Kai grabbed the tool belt and used it as a handle, pulling Dec closer, and Dec growled against his mouth.
“Tool belt stays on,” Kai murmured. “I’ve been fantasizing about this for three hours.”
“Turn around,” Dec said. Two words. Said with the calm authority that had wrecked Kai from the first day.
He turned around. The butcher block was the perfect height. Kai bent over it—forearms flat on the smooth wood, back arched. Behind him, Dec’s hands peeled the boxers down his thighs.
“You’ve been staring at me all afternoon,” Dec said against his ear. “Three hours of you sitting there in my flannel looking at me like I was the only thing in the room worth seeing.”
“You were. Building something for me. With your hands. In our home. Do you have any idea what that does to me?”
Dec’s finger pressed inside him and Kai’s voice dissolved into a sound that echoed off every surface. The prep was efficient—Dec’s hands knew Kai’s body with the instinctive precision of a craftsman.
Dec pushed inside him. The stretch was perfect. It was always perfect now. Dec bottomed out with the tool belt hardware pressing cool against Kai’s skin.
“Loud,” Dec said. The old joke.
“Thick walls,” Kai gasped back. “We verified.”
Dec started moving. Deep, rolling thrusts that pressed Kai into the butcher block. Dec’s hands held his hips with the possessive certainty of a man who had signed a document that said indefinite.
“You look incredible like this,” Dec said with his full voice. “Bent over the thing I built for you. In my shirt. Making those sounds. God, Kai. You’re everything.”
The praise hit like a switch being thrown. Dec meant every word now—spoken into Kai’s skin the way he spoke measurements into a blueprint.
“Harder. Please. I want to feel this tomorrow. I want to sit at this island eating breakfast and remember exactly what you did to me on it.”
Dec gave him harder. His hand slid around to Kai’s cock. Stroked in counterpoint—tight, precise, calloused palm dragging sensation.
“I love you,” Dec said. “I love you, Kai. Come for me.”
Kai shattered against the butcher block. Dec followed—forehead pressed between Kai’s shoulder blades, his body folded over Kai’s like a man praying at an altar he’d built with his own hands.
“The island held,” Kai observed.
“I build things to last,” Dec said.
“Yeah.” Kai turned in Dec’s arms. “Yeah, you do.”
Dec kissed him. Slow. Thorough. The kiss of a man who had time. They had all the time in the world.
