He Falls First Romance
He falls first romance highlights a man who recognizes or develops romantic feelings before the person he loves does. The appeal is often in the gap between what he feels and what he can say: small acts of care, attempts to stay close and the hope that the connection will eventually become mutual. The trope can appear in MM as well as MF romance.

Falling first is not the same as confessing first
A character can know how he feels and still keep it private. The reader may see his feelings through his point of view or through behavior that the other lead has not understood yet. That difference can create humor, tenderness or a long stretch of uncertainty.
Choose how the feelings develop
Friends to lovers gives early feelings a history to hide inside. Slow burn extends the anticipation, while rivals to lovers can make affection harder to admit. A secret relationship adds another distinction: the partners may know what they share even when other people do not.
Early feelings do not settle the whole relationship
Recognizing love first does not mean knowing how to build a partnership. The story may still ask the character to communicate, respect the other person’s pace or reconsider his expectations. Look beyond the label for the balance of pining, reciprocity and emotional growth.
